Before plastic surgery, patients ask us the same questions again and again. We put them to our plastic surgeon, Dr. İsmail Barut, and collected his answers here — short, honest and in his own words. Each answer links to a full guide.

Breast surgery

How long does breast augmentation last?

“If only an implant is placed, it can generally be used for around 10 to 15 years. After that, it’s beneficial to change the implant.” A lift or reduction can last 15–20 years if there’s no big weight change or pregnancy.

Buttock augmentation (BBL)

How long can’t I sit after a BBL?

“If the procedure is done with fat transfer, we generally recommend avoiding sitting directly on the area for about two weeks, or using a special cushion. If implants are used, follow precautions for at least one month.”

Facelift

Is a facelift just tightened skin?

No. “What is actually adjusted are the muscles under the skin and a layer of fascia we call the SMAS.” The excess is removed, then the skin is trimmed and the stitches are placed behind the ear.

How long does a facelift last?

“Results vary from person to person, depending on skin sagging, age and weight. But generally, they are effective for 7 to 10 years.”

Liposuction

Is VASER better than classic liposuction?

“There is no significant difference between the outcomes.” VASER makes some areas easier — the male chest, the back, or areas treated before. J-Plasma isn’t liposuction; it’s a heat treatment applied afterwards to help the skin tighten.

Will the fat come back after liposuction?

“They don’t come back completely.” Removed fat cells don’t regrow, but weight gain can make the remaining fat grow unevenly — so keeping a stable weight matters.

How much fat can be removed?

“There is no clear limit.” Over 5 litres requires a fully equipped hospital, and over 10 litres carries serious risks — “so we try to stay below 10 litres.”

Rhinoplasty

Can a nose job fix my breathing?

“It depends on the patient’s concerns.” Rhinoplasty can be done for looks, for breathing, or for both at the same time.

Could I need a second rhinoplasty?

“Yes, it could be necessary” — if the result isn’t as hoped, if scar tissue or tissue regrowth affects breathing, or if the nose is hit in the first three months.
