Short answer: good aftercare starts before you fly — with your records in hand, a direct line to your dentist, and a written guarantee. Most healing is smooth and simple. When something does need attention, a clear plan between your Istanbul dentist and your dentist at home solves it fast.

Why aftercare is the question that matters most

When UK dentists warn about treatment abroad, aftercare is usually the core of it. NHS bodies advise patients to agree aftercare and know who to contact before they book, and note that public services may only provide emergency care for problems from private treatment abroad. We agree: no patient should leave a clinic without knowing what happens next.

What you should take home

  • Your X-rays and scans (digital copies)

  • A treatment summary: what was done to each tooth and with which materials

  • Your implant passport (brand, size, batch) if you had implants

  • Your written guarantee and the steps to keep it valid

  • A direct contact for your dental team

Show these to your local dentist at your next check-up. They make any future care faster and cheaper.

The first two weeks: what's normal

Smiling patient checking veneers during a follow-up

Veneers and crowns

  • Normal: mild sensitivity to cold, and a bite that feels "new" for a few days

  • Contact us if: sharp pain on biting, or a loose or chipped restoration

Implants

  • Normal: swelling and tenderness for 3–5 days, mild bruising

  • Contact us if: swelling that grows after day 3, fever, pus, or a loose temporary

Whitening

  • Normal: sensitivity for 24–48 hours

  • Contact us if: sensitivity lasts more than a week

If you have severe pain, fever or facial swelling, see a local dentist or doctor straight away, then tell us.

Looking after your new smile long-term

  • Brush twice a day and clean between teeth — implants and veneers can still get gum disease around them.

  • Wear a night guard if you grind your teeth.

  • See your local dentist and hygienist regularly, as you would with natural teeth.

  • Don't bite hard objects (ice, bottle caps, pens).

How aftercare works at Lamis Clinic

You leave with your full records and a direct WhatsApp line to our dental team. Send us photos at any time and a dentist will review them. If an adjustment is needed, we tell you whether it can be done by a local dentist with our notes, or whether it's better handled in Istanbul.

Our 20-year guarantee. Dental treatment at Lamis Clinic comes with a 20-year written guarantee. If a covered problem occurs, we repair the work so it is like new, with no charge for the dental work itself. The full conditions are in the guarantee document you receive with your treatment. Travel and accommodation for a repair visit are paid by the patient — and in our experience, repairs are rarely needed.

Questions patients ask us

Will my dentist at home treat me after treatment in Turkey? Yes — dentists treat patients with work from abroad every day. Bringing your records makes it much easier.

What if a veneer comes off? Keep it, avoid chewing on that side, and send us a photo. It can often be re-bonded.

Does a guarantee cover my flights? At Lamis Clinic, the repair itself is covered by your guarantee, but flights and hotel for the repair visit are paid by you. With any clinic, read the terms before you book.
